Everyone has their own theories and schedules about the “right” time of the day to exercise. Some people like to get up early and finish their workouts before dawn or before they go to work. Others prefer to exercise in the late afternoon or evening, so they can come home and shower before bed.
Your body has a unique rhythm or timing patterns where there are high and low points during the day that effect your muscular performance. A common study found that most people seem to be the strongest in the late afternoon or early evening and there has been studies that show peak muscle performance happens later in the day. Studies have also shown that, if your workouts involve a lot of strength- or power-based movements, the chances are you’ll perform a little better in the later part of the day than you will in the morning.
If you are already a regular exerciser, you may have determined your most productive time to exercise during the day and follow a routine that works best for you. If you have not started to exercise on a regular basis you may want to start out exercising in the
afternoon, when your muscles are already warm and flexible from your daily activities. Just don’t change your schedule if you feel best when you exercise in the early part of the day. Maintaining a consistent schedule is very important while remembering to stretch and warm up when preparing for an early morning workout.
