Physicians & Physical Therapists
David Phreaner M.D., Lead Medical Consultant
Dave is a Family Practice doctor with a sports medicine emphasis.
His interest in health and fitness started prior to medical school when he played water polo for UCSB. He earned All-American honors and played for one year on the US Senior National Team. After receiving his MD degree from UCSD and completing his residency at UCLA Dave returned to Santa Barbara to start his practice. “After all of that education, I was ready to return to my active lifestyle. I took up motocross, mountain bike racing and snowboarding. All three of these sports require good balance and great core strength to do safely.
That’s why I was so excited when asked to join the Laser Gym team and help develop these fantastic products! I’ve been using the core laser for the past year and in addition to my back feeling great, my balance has never been better.”
Dave is now 45 years old with three equally active kids. “I truly believe the core laser will help me safely keep up with them well into my 50s.” “Luckily I’ve never suffered any severe back pain, but I know the hundreds of back pain patients that I see in my practice will benefit from using the core laser even more than I have.”
Deanne Turner, Head Physical Therapist Consultant
Deanne Martin Turner has been a practicing physical therapist for over 20 years in Santa Barbara. She received her degree from the University of California at Santa Barbara in Ergonomics, then went on to Mount St Mary’s College in Los Angeles, California for her physical therapy degree. She has worked in a variety of settings and has ultimately specialized in geriatrics. She ran her own business for over 10 years with an emphasis on home health in the geriatric population.
“During my years of practice I’ve noticed how often injuries in the elderly population were caused by decreased mobility and proprioception. It’s something I’ve been working to prevent my entire career. That’s why I am so thrilled to have helped develop products that allow people to learn new movement patterns to regain strength and control of those impaired areas. Incorporating direct visual feedback aspects of the core laser, as well as the Laser Mitt creates a more complete method for providing instruction in exercise techniques, making Physical Therapist’s jobs much easier!”
Deanne has a lifelong love of sport and continues to play tennis and volleyball.
She and her Husband Jim make their home in Santa Barbara, California with their three children.
