Back Pain
Nearly 80% of us will have significant back pain at some point in our lives. The million dollar question is what causes it and how do we get rid of it. Unfortunately, every tissue in the back has the ability to cause us pain. We all sit too much and most of us have had minor back strains. These factors eventually lead to becoming less flexible and weak in the important small stabilizing muscles. With weak stabilizers, the spinal column can start collapsing and siatica, herniated discs, and spinal stenosis become all too common.
The good news is that strengthening a few key muscle groups can go a long way in both relieving pain and preventing further problems. Doctors and physical therapist have begun to understand the importance of developing strength in the deep core muscles that support the spine. Like the stand on your Christmas tree, the pelvic floor muscles provides a base for the lumbar stabilizers. The Transversus Abdominis is like our own internal back brace and lastly the Lumbar Multifidus is the deepest stabilizer in the back and is key in preventing disc injury. In children, these muscle are strong and flexible but after years of neglect, poor posture and injury, adults loose control of these small core muscles and tend to rely on the larger external muscles. A good analogy is watching a child learn how to use a hula-hoop. Most can figure it out in a few minutes, but hand that hula-hoop to a 35 year old that has a sitting job or history of a couple minor back strains and they find it almost impossible.
As in the hula-hoop analogy, after years of ingrained muscle memory, it can be very difficult for back pain patients to train the deep core stabilizers. With the Core Laser you will be able to bypass your ingrained circuitry and learn how to activate those three key muscle groups. Within two weeks, we’ve found that the average user will increase their range of motion by 150%. In addition to the improved flexibility, you will be strengthening those difficult to train deep stabilizing muscles. In a very short time you will start noticing improved posture, better balance in sports, and most likely less back pain. You might even notice that you’re moving like a kid again!
